I should have wrote this post earlier on the thread but is southern Italy really poorer than Portugal?

India may think it is doing great, but as your wonderful compilation shows, India is doing great in parts and Sind, West Punjab, East Bengal, Sri Lanka and Nepal fit in quite well among the states of India. Of course this is not politically viable at this time. But how long must the current state go on? If Europe can have its EU - we ought to have a SAU. Perhaps that the only way the Afganistan, Burma and Kashmir problems will be solved.
