Lakshmi: We live in North Potomac and in just 10 minutes we can drive to Gaithersburg place called “Madras Palace”. Try their “Rava masala Dosa”. It is not as good as our best dosa we had yesterday here in Ahmedabad, Gujarat at a place called “Daas Prakash”. They tell me it’s all over India. I am not sure they have one in US. Good Luck.

dang where were all the brownies when i was in michigan 6 long years!btw, like most of the nyc/curry hill restaurants named madras(chennai garden/just closed madras cafe etc) madras masala isnt run by anyone from madras so dont expect a warm mylapore welcome as you walk in or a lipsmacking filter coffee to wash down the dosas (decent/not great)-

I recommend Jazzy Veggie, which is entirely vegan and is owned by an Indian graduate of U of M. They serve mostly American foods, but it’s a chef-driven place and not ordinary in the least:

As a madras vaasi born and raised, the closing of Amma in Georgetown has been one of the biggest tragedies of my short life. Any other good places for dosas in DC?
