@Rama at 14, actually, it was many friends, all younger than me, ~20′s-early 30′s. I am the only old f*** in my group, and yeah, we didn’t think he was funny. I checked out the vitamin water clip after reading about it here, and yes, I though that was funny, but he needs to practice delivery and develop broader content. Beleive me, I really wanted to like him and become an auntie-groupie, but was left with a feeling of ~”meh”.

Rama @12, yes, this is what middle age will do to you. I saw him on Comedy Central 2 (?) years ago, after he was profiled on SM or some other desi website. I rounded up a bunch of friends on that Friday night, and we stayed up way past our bed times to watch him, and collectively, we walked away thinking he wasn’t very funny.

Hari, or more likely Hari via Hari's dad, if you are listening: I just watched the Vegan Soul Food clip on comedy central clip, and you need yourself an education. I've had black friends and aunties and uncles feeding me delicious vegetarian and vegan soul food since I was a wee lass, and I will not hear it dismissed as if white people have some claim on veganism. There's a great and popular book out about Vegan Soul Food and any serious reader of the wonderful Tanehisi Coates will know of the long and proud tradition of meatless soul food in the African American community. (His The Beautiful Struggle is worth reading anyway, poetry.) No self-respecting vegan pulls of the Tofurkey thanksgiving after college anyway. One degree away from Southern black soul food is Carribean cuisine, and as I am still mourning the loss of my local Vital Ital Calabash, I doubly gripe this denouncement of vegan soul food.
