Tough. He needs to get Cs in college, get DUI, get into alcoholism, bum around, maybe even dodge service. Too much to place on a young man’s shoulders.

I don’t know how anyone, let alone a 17 yr old kid, could face national criticism/mockery with as much confidence/humility/humour as Sanjaya … hope he has a successful career ahead. Someone who can laugh at himself when being laughed at by a whole nation – definitely deserves great many things in life.

I agree. That inability to laugh at oneself is, in my mind, the greatest failing of our generation of brownz. We really just take ourselves too damn seriously, all the time.

There’s a joke in here about birds, bees, and fruits, and Sanjaya being a girl’s name. But for the life of me, I can’t find it yet.

I hate AI

I used to watch AI religiously, but after Simon said an early contestant looked like a bush baby, I decided not to watch anymore. However, I couldn’t resist watching Sanjaya clips on YouTube. I liked his pre-AI gospel performance.

Though some of his singing is mediocre, I can’t help rooting for a fellow desi.

Not once, honestly. I hate AI, I just love papaya. He’s got the sweetest spirit.

Actually, while the show is a bit more boring, it’s just because there aren’t as many unique and scathing moments of criticism. Everything suddenly seems a bit more gray. Sanjaya was kind of like the color in Pleasantville (no race pun intended).
