Yes, you are the only one. Unless by “desi” you mean Pakistani. Indians (and Bangladeshis) do have “demure little noses” (even if slightly broader) on average. Indians usually have much smaller and slightly broader noses than white peoples’ on average, who themselves don’t have that large of a nose. But Pakistanis get lucked out of the deal, most of them seem to have the “Pathan naak (nose; SRK style),” unfortunately.

Ok guys, most of us have been teased for something or the other. Whether it be nose or whatever. I have a wide nose and have been reminded of this also, not in a rude way but in a jovial way some times. But the reality is that no one is perfect! All those people who teased you, do you think they had everything perfect?? No! They were insecure about something too and they took it out on you! And when you meet someone, do you just keep concentrating on someone’s nose? No, you see the overall personality. I have a wide nose but that didn’t stop me from being confident and meeting people! I have seen so many “conventionally” good looking people married to conventionally not so good looking people. What ultimately matters is the heart, not some plastic outer beauty!

hello all the bottom line is the lighter the skin, the more appealing it is for movie makers and movie watchers. the more makeup and cosmetic surgery you can get done to survive the fimi world, the better it is for you $$$$$$-wise. look at indian/hindi movies from 80′s or 90′s and look at the ones these days, don’t you see a stark difference in complexion and makeup of females especially? look at the matrimonial ads – fair, wheatish complexion………….need i say more. fair and lovely is popular from age 8 to 80. look at aishwary rai and her makeup…. rekha, shilpa shetty, priety zinta, vidya balan, with their cosmetic surgeries and boat loads of make-up.

seems to me you have a chip on your shoulder. I am from Delhi & live in Europe ….I am constantly asked if I am really Indian & how come my skin is so light….they totally see the differnce between the typical north indian & south…I am saying typical cause of course there are exceptions.

Walk on the streets of delhi & chennai…& tell me you see the same people…and not just Indians..anyone with eyes can see the difference. Its not a bad thing …just different ..accept it.

You have natural D cups and you plan on getting a boob job? Are you going smaller? If not, I'm just wondering out of curiousity which size you want to be, if you want to be bigger.

Plastic surgery is a personal choice so I respect the freedom a person has to choose to have or not have it done.

I’d get lipo, maybe. And lazer hair removal, full body! Maybe even botox. But not a boob job, nose job, new chin, etc. Erasing little flaws feels very different to me from incorporating something foreign — a whole different monster! I get grossed out sometimes thinking about the metal rod shoved through my navel. ick!

Right on, Shruti. Seriously, MangoPickle, take a chill pill. I hadn't checked in all weekend, but I'm sorry my previous comment got you so worked up (though mine weren't the only ones).

Let's agree to disagree on the relative merits of plastic surgery. I still just don't get it, but I never said my opinion was gonna make people stop getting nipped and tucked, nor am I suggesting outlawing it. And yes, I live on THIS planet. And YES, I understand firsthand what it's like not to live up to the "standard" of attractiveness that's foisted upon us (men AND women) from outside.

I tell you the truth: If a woman told me (or talked behind my back) that I was ugly or had a big nose or only became attractive because I did plastic surgery, I would consider it JUST AS DEGRADING AS SOMEONE CALLING ME A motherfucker, moron, dumbass, bastard, etc. BOTH ARE DEMEANING AND EFFECT A PERSON"S WORTH.

Um, yeah, if you place your worth on your looks.

MangoPickle, you don't need plastic surgery, you need love and lithium.

BTW, harping on such marginal intra-racial differences can lead to horrific consequences as seen in the massacre of Tutsis by Hutus in Rwanda, the racial genocides of WW II in Europe, the massacre of bengalis by pakistani punjabis in 1971 etc.
