Interestingly, the Indian communists (and other Indian pseudo-progressives) support China on Tibet issue but protest against US when it comes to Cuba/Iraq/China etc.. lamenting [only] the US as imperialist!!!

Well the US can and has been imperialist. Its the result of their european ancestory. I dont see the issues as related. The CPI-ML still is supported by china, and their views are sickening. There isnt a progressive movement in india(progressive defined as an american left leaning progressive). Congress, BJP both have strains which are critical of US(and China for that matter). These issues cant be looked in an american radio talkshow left vs right format.

Oh god, this makes me so emotional suddenly… I did the whole member of Students for a free Tibet thing, met Tenzin Tsundue in Bombay, bought his book of poems (he’s an MA in Lit.), was so sad at some of them. I gave up because it seemed so futile… nothing was going to happen… I don’t know what they are doing now… therew as teh Panchen Lama racket a decade ago… they will porbbaly become citizens, but I imagine most are holding on to a Tibetan Dream. It’s so sad. China did the whole oil digging thing in Tibet with BP that Bush is doing in Iraq. History really repeats itself, and politics is really about the self. Sorry this is so confused.

CIA supporting dissidents in tibet is old news. There is a doccumentary about it....Cant remember the name snow lion snow dragon....The policy was stopped b/c the tibetans themselves realized that american motives were NOT to help them get independance but use them to create nuisance for china.

Indians should use common sense and start issuing these folks citizenship. I dont see the majority of folks in dharamshala being able to go back. Hell we gave the calcutta chinese indian citizenship
