A mediocre movie about a subject that had never been filmed before. One of the interesting things in the movie was that when the indentured laborers were first put on the plantations, the British plantation lords assumed they were just a new set of slaves there to replace the previous set of slaves. The abuses were so rampant that the indentured program had to be stopped for many years, and was resurrected later with new caveats and laws to treat the laborers as workers, not slaves.</p> Yes, it was released in the US.
