ZAM’s Hope is the vision and creation of Zehra Quadri, a single mother who discovered first-hand the lack of services available to immigrant women in Chicago, especially on the north side. As she worked through the social stigma of divorce and making ends meet for herself and her two daughters, she also began planning how she would help others who are experiencing similar problems. At first, Zehra, with her own resources and the help of her daughters, began offering emergency services from her home. In August of 2000, ZAM’s Hope was incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 not for profit. Mission The mission of ZAM’s Hope is to assist primarily low-income women and their children, to adjust to life in the Chicagoland area and to improve their quality of life through services that include emergency assistance, citizenship support, economic empowerment, family support, and cultural preservation. ZAM’s Hope is open to all without regard for religion, gender, ethnicity, disability, income, or sexual orientation.
